A 45-year-old man was arrested by the Narsingi police on Monday for allegedly strangulating his wife and burying her in an open plot two months ago. The police have launched a hunt to nab a woman, who helped him in the killing.

The man Esaiah, a farm worker stayed at a farm house in Gandamguda in Narsingi along with his wife Saiamma (38). Two months ago, Esaiah along with another woman Tirumalamma, who worked in an adjacent farm killed Saiamma, the police said.

“Esaiah was in a relationship with Tirumalamma before her marriage and continued it. As Saiamma came to know about it, Esaiah and Tirumalamma strangulated the woman at their house and buried her body at an open land nearby,” Narsingi Inspector P. Ramchander Rao said.

The incident came to light a few days ago when relatives of Saiamma approached the police and told that she had not contacted them for the last two months. A missing case was registered at the Narsingi police station. The police took Esaiah into custody and he spilled the beans.

On Monday, the police exhumed the highly decomposed body. A team of doctors from OMC conducted post-mortem on the spot. A hunt has been launched to nab Tirumalamma, Mr. Rao said.
