Woman forced to drink acid, dies in Hyderabad

A 25-year-old woman from Neredmet, who was allegedly forced to drink acid by her companion two days ago, died at Gandhi Hospital early on Monday. The woman was in a relationship with one Narendar also from Neredmet for the last few months.

"It is not clear as to what has happened but family members allege that Narendar forced her to drink acid two days ago. She died while undergoing treatment this morning," Malkajgiri DCP R. Ramarajeshwari said.

The woman a divorcee was staying along with her parents with her three-year-old son. "There are also reports that the woman was addicted to substance abuse. We are investigating the case from all angles," the official added.

Based on a complaint from the family members the police registered a case and detained Narendar for questioning.
