Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Ponnala Lakshmaiah observed that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit to Warangal has provided him an opportunity to know the ground realities in the State.
“Mr. Rao came to know certain startling facts about implementation of welfare schemes on the first day of his visit itself. He is still not aware of the problems of farmers, handloom weavers, workers, students, unemployed youth and others,” Mr. Lakshmaiah said, addressing a press conference here on Friday.
The aerial surveys kept the Chief Minister away from the situation on the ground all these days and his survey on the land proved to be the eye-opener with different sections of the society pouring out their problems, the TPCC chief said. “He will know more truths if he keeps visiting the State. He has been ridiculing our (Congress party’s) remarks on his rule as mere political outbursts,” the Congress leader said.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit to Warangal had proved that his rule was not wonderful as being claimed by the ruling party leaders, but was worse as scores of people had told him that they were not getting social security pensions in spite of being eligible. He alleged that the Chief Minister went round the slums in Warangal as the elections to the civic body were due.
People in villages and agency areas were suffering with viral fever and swine flu, but the Health Minister refused to accept the reality. The Chief Minister’s daughter herself was down with swine flu now and MP Balka Suman and MLA Rasamayi Balakishen were among other victims in the past, Mr. Lakshmaiah noted.
The list of un-kept promises of the TRS was very long, the TPCC chief said and demanded that Mr. Rao govern the State keeping in mind people’s welfare and Telangana’s development and not just elections.
