VHR stages dharna seeking action against Sushma

June 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao on Sunday staged a demonstration in Amberpet in the city demanding action against Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and the Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in connection with the controversy over allegedly helping former IPL chief Lalit Modi secure travel documents.

Accompanied by party workers, he staged a dharna raising slogans against the Union government and demanded that the two responsible leaders be sacked. He reminded that the UPA government in its last term had not spared any leader facing charges of corruption.

Talking to reporters later, he wanted the AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi to tour the county to expose the ‘çorrupt’ NDA Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On the cash-for-vote scandal, he alleged that Centre was allegedly shielding the AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who was caught on audio tapes purportedly talking to a nominated MLA to support his party nominee in Legislative Council elections.
