TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy reportedly took responsibility for defeat in Huzurnagar by-election in the Congress Core Committee Meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, but said there was nothing to be demoralised about as the ruling party used all its tricks, including spending huge amount of money, to buy out local leaders.

The meeting discussed the by-election and also laying siege to Pragati Bhavan without keeping the senior leaders informed. Mr. Reddy said despite the machinery working against them, the party could poll 70,000 votes, which itself was a good sign.

Former MP V. Hanmantha Rao reportedly raised the Pragati Bhavan issue stating that the decision was taken by one leader to garner publicity for himself hinting at TPCC working president, A. Revanth Reddy. He said such indisciplinary acts should be viewed seriously.

Earlier, a power presentation was made by Dasoju Sravan and Gourav Vallabh on the state economic slowdown and how the party leaders should go to the ground to expose the failure of the Modi government.

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the material prepared by Sravan, Hariprasad and Javed would be sent to all the PCC members and District Congress Committees to organise media conferences to expose the Central government’s failures.

A dharna would be held on November 8 in front of all district collectorates and a padataytra would be taken out from Gandhi Bhavan to Hyderabad Collectorate on the same issue.

The TPCC chief said the government should allocate land for Congress office in the city and also in the district headquarters as was done for the TRS party.
