Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has expressed his ire over the delay in construction of housing complex for the newly elected MLAs at Adarshnagar.

The Minister who went on a surprise inspection to the New MLA Quarters complex here on Thursday expressed his displeasure at the agency executing the project.

The agency had promised to complete the project and hand it over to the Government by March 31 and after that as it requested more time, the Government gave time up to May 31. He also took the officials to task for not taking action against the agency for the delay. He directed them to review the work and give clarity by when the quarters would be handed over.

Mr. Nageswara Rao warned that if the agency failed to meet the final deadline, action would be taken against it.

The administrative sanction for the MLAs’ quarters at Adarshnagar was given in the united Andhra Pradesh and it was estimated then that it would cost ₹166 crore and it was approved in 2012 and the site was handed over to the agency in August, 2012. The agency then agreed to complete the construction in 18 months.

Of four blocks under construction, one main block is for MLAs’ residence, one block for staff, third block for personal attendants of MLAs and the fourth block for IT and other requirements. While two blocks were completed, the main block was in final stage.
