Demand removal of Lambadas from ST list

The Adivasi Hakkula Porata Samiti, also known as Tudum Debba, on Wednesday threatened to resort to a militant struggle after elections if no political party takes note of their demand to remove Lambadas from the list of Scheduled Tribes.

Leaders of the organisation, former Boath (ST) MLA Soyam Bapu Rao and former Asifabad (ST) MLA Athram Sakku pointed out that no political party had made any mention of their demand in their manifesto for the coming elections.

Addressing the media at Kumram Bheem Memorial at Jodeghat in Kerameri mandal, Mr. Bapu Rao said he was seeking a ticket from Congress from Boath (ST) constituency. He said he was doing so in the belief that the Congress party, which was instrumental in admitting the Lambada tribe in the ST list, would also be instrumental in removing it.

Mr. Sakku, who is also seeking a Congress ticket from Asifabad (ST) constituency, said the aboriginal people were tired of waiting for a response for their demand and if any political party responds, we would support it in the elections.
