TTDP seeks comprehensive probe

June 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telangana Telugu Desam Party has favoured a comprehensive inquiry into the recent elections to the Telangana Legislative Council to bring out facts pertaining to horse trading. TTDP leaders L. Ramana, E. Dayakar Rao and R. Chandrasekhar Reddy wondered how the strength of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti increased from 63 at the time of the first session of the Legislative Assembly to 85 during the recent MLC elections. TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao owes an explanation to people on how the party’s strength had increased significantly in one year.

“Mr. Rao should clarify how his party could muster the support of 22 more MLAs? The TRS should clarify whether the MLAs were threatened, offered allurements like plum posts,” Mr. Ramana said. Mr. Dayakar Rao alleged that the government is a conspirator in the cash-for-vote episode and the ruling party had targeted TDP MLA A. Revanth Reddy for raising questions about its functioning.
