TS to set up special schools for orphans

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday directed the officials to formulate a policy for taking care of the orphan-children and announced setting up of integrated residential schools for them to continue education after tenth standard. The first of such schools would be set up at Yadagirigutta and the government would invite President Pranab Mukherjee for laying foundation stone for it. He also asked the Cabinet Sub-Committee already set up to study the measures required to take care of orphan-children to submit its recommendations early.

Mr. Rao directed the officials to examine the scope for providing reservation to orphan-children in education and employment. He would personally visit some orphanages to study the conditions of orphan-children, he stated. The government is providing free education and hostel facility to them till tenth standard but there are no facilities take care of them later, though some non-governmental organisations are working in that direction. The meeting was attended by Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, K.T. Rama Rao, Dr. C. Laxma Reddy, Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretary of CMO S. Narsing Rao, Commissioner of GHMC Somesh Kumar and others.

Meanwhile, Mr. Rao expressed grief at the death of Sister Nirmala, the successor of Mother Teresa in running the Missionaries of Charity.
