The Tribal Welfare Department has asserted that a proposal for setting up the Tribal University in temporary accommodation with few courses has been furnished to the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) by the State government.

Responding to the affidavit filed by the MHRD in the Supreme Court relating to the implementation of assurances in the Reorganisation Act, the department has said Tahsildar of Mulug had handed over advance possession of government land to an extent of 120 acres to the Eturunagaram ITDA Project Officer.

This was intimated to the Union Ministry.

The process for handing over forest land in an extent of 213 acre in Jakaram village was under process and the government had released ₹5 lakh to the Forest Department for taking up survey in this direction.

The Youth Training Centre (YTC) buildings at Jakaram had been identified for starting the university from the current academic year with some courses.

Proposals for starting the university with few courses had been forwarded to the MHRD (Department of Higher Education) with an estimated ₹1.3 crore, the department said.
