Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked Officer on Special Duty Bhoopal Reddy to submit a note on hosting the next edition of Khelo India Youth Games in the city.

This was in response to the plea of Sports Authority of Telangana State chairman A. Venkateshwar Reddy. On January 23, Sports Authority of India director general Neelam Kapur had written to Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi about inviting bids from all States and Union Territories for holding the next Khelo Games this November.

It was also emphasised in the communication that the Centre would fund about ₹25 crore for the conduct of the Games. The SATS chairman says that there is scope for an increase in the budget allocation for the Games from the Centre under different subjects.

“The Games would give a huge fillip to sports promotion if Telangana was to play host. We have world class infrastructure in place to host the Games,” he said.
