Sonia Gandhi has given Telangana due the struggle and sacrifices made by the students and youngsters but now they remained deprived the benefits of the new State as only one family — of caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao — enjoyed all the benefits, said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Mr. Reddy, who was speaking at the joining of students and TRSV activists from Palamuru, Kakatiya and JNTU Universities, dismissed the claims of TRS leader and minister in caretaker government K.T. Rama Rao that the TRS fought and achieved Telangana. “It was the struggle of the students that convinced Ms. Gandhi on formation of Telangana, but the KCR’s family members are ridiculing students and youngsters who sacrificed their careers,” he said.

Mr. Reddy said when the Congress party promised to give ₹ 3,000 unemployment allowance to jobless youth, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao copied it adding just ₹ 16 it. “Are you trying to make fun of jobless youth?” he asked and questioned as to why the TRS government did not implement it during the last four years when it has the figures of 12 lakh jobless youth.

Lavish lifestyle

At the same time, Mr. Rao’s family led a lavish lifestyle in a ₹ 300 crore Pragathi Bhavan. “KCR had money to buy luxury cars worth ₹ 100 crore or fly in chartered jets but he has no money to clear fee reimbursement dues or create jobs,” he charged. He also accused the TRS government with failing to start the information technology investment region (ITIR) project sanctioned by previous Congress-led UPA government to create 50 lakh direct and indirect jobs.

Mr. Reddy alleged that the TRS regime had completely ruined the education system in Telangana starving the universities of funds and no efforts were made to fill the vacancies. “All this was done to facilitate establishment of private universities,” he claimed. He appealed to the students and youth to campaign for the Congress party in the next elections and ensure that each one gets 100 votes of his family members, friends and neighbours. He also cautioned them that TRS might use money and muscle power or even misuse police to indulge in irregularities during elections.
