No future for other parties: KCR

February 03, 2015 03:54 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 07:08 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Telangana Rashtra Samiti president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday asserted that there was no alternative to the party in the new State. Addressing the first extended executive committee meeting of the TRS that got underway at a luxury convention hall on the outskirts of the City, Mr. Rao said there was no future for other parties in Telangana.

“The opposition parties are unable to digest our success and the facts,” he said adding that once the delimitation of new constituencies is complete after the bifurcation, the TRS was confident of winning at least 130 out of the 154 Assembly seats.

At present the Telangana Assembly has 119 seats, which will go up to 154. He asserted that there were youthful leaders and intellectuals in the party. He said that each parliamentary constituency in the new State would get two additional assembly constituencies and wanted the party cadres to work hard to strengthen the party.

He reminded the cadres that it was the TRS which ensured the downfall of the TDP in the 2004 elections and elevation of the Congress to the seat of power. “From now onwards, it will be our rule only,” he asserted and noted that some political parties were now perturbed over their fate.

On ambitious water grid project, he said that every house would get water connection to supply potable drinking water. He said that his Government had released Rs.3,500 crore for pensions.

This is the first extended executive committee meeting of the ruling after winning elections last year.
