TRS Govt mired in corruption: BJP

October 27, 2017 12:27 am | Updated 12:27 am IST - HYDERABAD

The BJP Telangana unit has accused the TRS Government of being no different from the erstwhile Congress Government in taking up massive projects only to loot public funds and serve the interests of the contractors. The large-scale irregularities unearthed by the CAG on the Mission Kakatiya works was a reflection of scams of the corrupt Government, charged BJP chief K. Laxman on Thursday.

“When we cautioned the Government about the irregularities in the works, we were ridiculed and criticised but the truth is out now. The Chief Minister made grandstanding statements on arresting corruption what does he have to say now? The Irrigation Minister should respond to the CAG remarks,” he said at a press conference.

Quoting the report, Mr. Laxman pointed out that almost 50% of work taken up in the water bodies restoration as “useless” indicating how precious funds collected from the people as taxes had been squandered. “Who gave them the right to misuse the money when the Centre is funding crores of rupees in the guise of different schemes,” he asked.

The BJP leader feared similar irregularities in the Mission Bhagiratha and other irrigation projects. He demanded an in-depth probe into the scam and vowed to take up the issue in the Assembly session.

Rally

Later, the party took out a vehicle rally in Alwal area which was flagged off by the Union Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and attended by Dr. Laxman, MLC N. Ramachander Rao, former Minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy and others. Led by local leaders like P.M.Sai Prasad, the activists on cars and bikes raised slogans against the Government and in support of the Central Govenrment programmes of corrupt free India, clean India and so on.

The party said TRS Governemnt was mired in corruption and the police too were playing a partisan role in complaints filed against its leaders and demanded an impartial probe into such incidents.
