CPI district secretary K. Ramgopal Reddy, while hoisting the national flag at the CPI party office as part of the Telangana liberation day celebrations in Karimnagar town on Monday, criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for going back on his promise of according official status to Telangana liberation day celebration on September 17 every year.

“When in opposition during the Telangana statehood movement, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao demanded the then Congress and TDP governments to celebrate the Telangana liberation day officially. Now, after attaining power, Mr. Rao has gone back on his promise of celebrating liberation day officially”, he charged.

Recollecting the Telangana armed struggle launched by the CPI from September 11, 1947 to September 17, 1948 till the liberation of Telangana region, he said CPI leaders Raavi Narayan Reddy, Baddam Yellareddy Muqdhoom Moinuddin and others fought against the Nizam for the merger of Telangana with the Union territory, by hoisting of national flag on September 17, 1948.

He reminded that while Telangana armed struggle leaders Doddi Komuraiah, Chakali Ilamma, Anabheri Prabhakar Rao, Sheik Bandagi, Singireddy Bhupathi Reddy and others sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Telangana, the TRS had neglected the martyrs after attaining power. CPI leader Kalwa Narsaiah, Paidipalli Raju, Bhonagiri Mahender, Sadasiva and others were also present.
