If the first milestone of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) was the functional bifurcation that took place on June 3, 2015, leading to the creation of Telangana State RTC, the second milestone was crossed on Thursday, August 24, when two of the three agenda items were passed at the Board meeting held in Vijayawada.
The first item was the approval of final accounts for 14 months between April 1, 2013 and June 1, 2014, while the second was fixing the modalities suggested for distribution of State-cadre employees who primarily include officers, senior supervisors and some para-medical staff.

Other Zonal/Regional-level employees do not come under the purview of the bifurcation, the States Re-organisation Act as such. Whoever works wherever, as of now, will continue in the same location, said TSRTC Managing Director G.V. Ramana Rao.
The third item on the agenda, pertaining to the de-merger plan and distribution of assets and liabilities was said to have been deferred for a fortnight or so, following a request from TSRTC directors that they did not have the time to study it in detail.
However, referring to the two items that were approved, Mr. Rao said the meeting was fruitful and held in the most cordial manner. Speaking to The Hindu on his way back to Hyderabad on Thursday evening, he said there were two major components of the de-merger that was in the Centre’s purview.
They include distribution of assets and liabilities and distribution of State-cadre employees. The next meeting of the Board has been scheduled for September 15 and there are possibilities that it may be held right here in Hyderabad. Directors of the two corporations apart, there are two more directors representing the Centre, including Director of the Central Institute of Road Transport, Sanil Patil, and Executive Director of the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings, Ananda Rao.
Apart from Mr. Ramana Rao, others who represented the TSRTC included Principal Secretaries, Sunil Sharma (Transport) and Ramakrishna Rao (Finance, Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation B. Janardhan Reddy and Secretary-Labour, Sashank Goel.
The AP contingent was led by APSRTC Managing Director M. Malakondaiah, Principal Secretary Sumita Dawra, Secretary-Finance Satyanarayana, Executive Directors A. Venkateswara Rao (Administration) and A. Koteswara Rao (Engineering), apart from Financial Advisor Satyanarayana.
