Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat ordered an inquiry into a youth’s arrest by Neredmet police on charges of circulating defamatory videos against a TRS legislator.

Pampari Sai Prasad (29) was charged with 66A (B) of IT Act, despite it being struck down by the Supreme Court in 2015.

The accused, an activist of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha was arrested on Monday and remanded to judicial custody, following a complaint lodged by supporters of Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao.

Mr Bhagwat did not respond to repeated calls from this correspondent.

However, DCP Malkajgiri Ch. R. Umamaheswara Sarma has confirmed that Mr Bhagwat has ordered a probe into Prasad’s arrest and that a report will be submitted soon.
