A second drinking water pipeline at a cost of ₹116.50 crore under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), among a slew of other inauguration and foundation-laying events on Thursday, indicates that Nalgonda is on the path of development.
Minister for Education G. Jagadish Reddy, who took part in about eight foundation-laying ceremonies, said the busy day speaks volumes of the State’s determination to develop Nalgonda.
Accompanied by District Collector Gaurav Uppal, Mr. Reddy inaugurated the second pipeline, its pump house and service reservoirs near Panagal and Anishwargutta. He later laid foundation stone for CC roads in the town, and a service road near Cherlapally to avoid road accidents.
In all, about ₹29 crore has been earmarked for laying CC roads in the town apart from a central lighting system.
According to Mr. Reddy, the plans to develop Telangana, village and mandal-wise, were conceived by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao way back in 2014. “A visionary, he was able to allocate ₹45,000 crore for welfare alone. Farm suicides and starvation deaths have come down drastically in the district,” he said.
Mr. Uppal informed that Nalgonda, at present, consumes 19.5 million litres of water per day, and with the introduction of eight new service tanks, a pump and one balancing reservoir by August-end, another 20 MLD would be supplied to households.
Rythu Samanvaya Samithi chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy reminded that former Municipal Minister K.T. Rama Rao had sanctioned ₹109 crore for overall development and beautification of Nalgonda.
Also present on the occasion were Zilla Parishad Chairman Banda Narender Reddy, legislator K. Bhupal Reddy and MLC T. Chinnappa Reddy.
