Termination notices were issued to two tea stalls at the Secunderabad and Falaknuma stations along with a cell kitchen at Gudur station for overcharging passengers and for poor food quality as part of an eight-month special drive by the South Central Railway (SCR).

Following a Railway Ministry directive, an action plan was prepared to improve the quality of catering and prevent overcharging of food items and water bottles with intensive checks taken up on a large scale — 3,738 checks were conducted. About 1,016 cases were booked and a fine of ₹87.16 lakh realised from catering units for overcharging.

Counselling sessions were conducted for catering licensees and vendors, and instructions were issued to the divisions and group general manager of IRCTC, a press release said.
