Tenant farmers seek Rythu Bandhu

May 10, 2018 12:51 am | Updated 12:51 am IST - Hyderabad

Farmer organisations associated with All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee demanded Union and State governments to extend Rythu Bandhu scheme to cultivators including tenant farmers.

Currently the scheme covers only patta holders. There are more than 11 lakh tenant farmers, more than two lakh acres under podu cultivation by Adivasis, and lakhs of farmers cultivating under sada bainama none of whom are covered under the scheme, the organisations pointed out.

The organisation was commemorating the first war of Indian independence-1987.

The AIKSCC plans to organise district-level demonstrations across the country to urge government to meet their demand.
