Telangana gets 6 IAS probationers

October 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The allocation of six IAS probationers of the 2014 batch to Telangana State by the Centre recently comes as a big relief to the State Government that has been facing shortage of the administrative service officers.

According to Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, the Centre has allocated Krittika Jyotsna, Sandep Kumar Jha, Sikta Patnaik, Md. Musharraf Ali Faruqui, Krishna Aditya S. and Gautham V.P. to the State. They cleared the Civil Services Examination in 2013.

Less than 100 officials

Meanwhile, sources stated that the State Government has less than 100 IAS officers at its effective disposal, after a good number of them have opted for deputation with the Centre.

A total of 133 IAS officers were allocated to the State in the division of All India Service officers between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including over half-a dozen who attained superannuation during the process of bifurcation and after a few months after that.

As a result, most of the senior and mid-career officers have been forced to take care of more than one responsibility.

Some of them are even holding charge of more than three responsibilities.

Bihar polls

Deputation of over a dozen IAS officers from the State to officiate the Assembly elections in Bihar and some of them to the mid-career training programme conducted by the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration has also been affecting work at the top-level in some departments, the sources said.

The Centre has also allocated four IAS probationers of the 2014 batch to Andhra Pradesh. They are Saloni Sidana, Sumit Kumar, Vetriselvi K. and Nishant Kumar.
