Teacher suspended on charge of ganja smuggling

Machidi Srinivas, a secondary grade teacher (SGT) of the mandal parishad primary school at Bestapally in Manthani mandal, has been suspended following his arrest by the Maharashtra police on charges of transporting ganja in two cars in Chandrapur district of the neighbouring State two days ago.

The Maharashtra police on Saturday arrested Srinivas, seized 103 kg of ganja from his alleged possession, and sent him to judicial custody, sources said.

In an order issued on Monday, District Educational Officer, Peddapalli, D Madhavi, placed Srinivas under suspension with immediate effect. “He violated his legitimate duties by involving in criminal offence,” the order read.
