Six killed, 20 injured in road accidents

Four persons, including a four-month-old infant, were killed and 10 others sustained injuries when two RTC buses collided near Chowderpally village in Mahabubnagar district on Tuesday.

Reports reaching here said a speeding RTC bus belonging to Karnataka rammed another Hyderabad bound bus leading to the accident. Four persons sitting behind the driver’s seat died as the side portion of the bus was ripped apart, due to the impact of the collision.

Police had a tough time extricating the bodies from the spot. The injured were rushed to Mahabubnagar district headquarters hospital for treatment.

The condition of two persons is said to be critical.

The identity of the victims, including a woman, and the infant, is yet to be known.

Bodies were shifted to headquarters hospital for post mortem.

Case against driver

Mahabubnagar police registered a case against the driver of the Karnataka bus.

Meanwhile, Telangana Transport Minister P.Mahender Reddy expressed shock at the incident.

He directed the Regional Manager of TSRTC, Mahabubnagar, to ensure that best medical treatment is provided to the injured passengers.

The Minister said the government will help the injured persons.

Two persons were killed and 10 others were injured in separate road accidents in Kusumanchi and Palvancha mandals on Tuesday.

According to sources, Narsi Reddy, 60, of Nayakangudem, was killed on the spot and three others were grievously injured when the autorickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a speeding car on a bridge near Palair on Khammam-Suryapet main road in the afternoon.

The injured were admitted to a hospital in Khammam. In another incident, a driver of a DCM van died on the spot after the vehicle he was driving collided with an RTC bus near Peddamma temple on Bhadrachalam-Kothagudem main road in Palvancha mandal late in the afternoon. Seven passengers of both the vehicles suffered injuries in the incident.

A case has been registered.
