Visuals obtained from closed circuit cameras installed at various traffic junctions and shops along Mehdipatnam road helped police solve a dacoity reported at Humayanagar four days ago. Six persons were held for their involvement in the crime and gold ornaments weighing 3.8 kg were recovered from them.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahendar Reddy said the prime accused – Buran Shareif (27) of Bibi Bazar, who earlier worked at a jewellery shop in Nampally, hatched and executed the plan along with his associates Khaja Fasiuddin (28), Md Iqbal (19), Atif Ali Baif (19), Syed Arshad (23) and Goru.
Buran was aware of a salesman visiting jewellery shops to sell gold ornaments.
He discussed the plan with Fasiuddin, who worked at Mujthaba Jewellers in Mehdipatnam. Fasiuddin told Buran about a salesman of Vaishnavi Jewellers regularly visiting his workplace.
Based on the information, Buran planned the dacoity and roped in five of his friends to execute the task. “On Saturday, Fasiuddin tipped off the gang members about Narsimha Reddy’s visit to his workplace and informed them about his movements. With the inputs given by him, the remaining gang members waylaid Narsimha and robbed 3.8 kg of gold ornaments after attacking him,” the official said.
Soon after the incident, the Commissioner’s Task Force (West) team collected footages recorded by the closed circuit cameras installed at the shops and traffic junctions around the place of dacoity and identified the accused persons. Efforts are being made to apprehend Imran, an auto-rickshaw driver from Tallabkatta, who is also involved in the crime.
