As the “data breach” case assumed political hue with the ruling parties of both Telugu States making allegations against each other, the Telangana government on Wednesday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to further probe the case.
The SIT headed by Inspector General of Police, West, Stephen Raveendra, will immediately take over the case and examine the evidences gathered so far by the police of Cyberabad and Hyderabad.
The Cyber Crime police stations of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Crime Investigation Department (CID) will assist the SIT in view of the complexity of the case.
Team members
According to the notification issued by Home Secretary Rajiv Trivedi, the Team consists of eight other police officers including Kama Reddy SP N. Swetha and Cyberabad Crimes DCP Rohini Priyadarshini. Narayanpet Sub-Divisional Police Officer G. Sridhar, ACPs B Ravi Kumar Reddy, N Shyam Prasad Rao, Ch. Y. Srinivas, Cyber Crime Inspectors B Ramesh and G Venkat Rami Reddy are other members.
The constitution of a SIT for investigating the case was recommended by the Director General of Police in a letter to the government informing that Thummala Lokeshwara Reddy of KPHB Colony lodged a complaint with Madhapur police against TDP-engaged IT Grids (India) Pvt. Ltd. He has alleged that sensitive data of individuals, including personal information and details of beneficiaries of government schemes, are being misused by the firm without the consent of the individuals.
A SIT is necessary for the sustained and focused investigation, as the case requires probe by cyber crimes experts and visit various places other than in Cyberabad Commissionerate limits, the notification said. After completion of the investigation, the SIT will file its report in the concerned court of law, it added.
