New life: The district authorities have taken up relocation of the fully grown trees instead of felling them in Sircilla on Friday.

As part of campaign to maintain green cover and protect nature, the district administration took up relocation of fully grown trees, which were being cut for road widening in the town.

On the directions of Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K Taraka Rama Rao the administration took up the relocation of fully grown trees that came under the axe as part of the road widening of the town that has become district headquarters of the newly formed district to the outskirts of the textile town on Friday.

Scientific approach

Instead of merciless cutting down the trees in various parts of the town, the district administration had decided to relocate them in a scientific manner by spending around ₹36 lakh for the relocation of over 300 fully-grown trees.

The trees which were causing obstruction for the road widening works were relocated to the by-pass road safely by using earth movers and other machinery.

Expert handling

Before relocation of the huge trees, horticulture experts from Hyderabad chopped off the branches and added chemical mixture to the tree and roots and shifted to the by-pass road for relocation.

Collector Krishna Bhaskar personally inspected the process of the relocation of the trees from the town to the by-pass road on the outskirts of the town. He directed the officials to take all measures for survival and regeneration of all the fully grown trees.
