YSR Telangana party founder Y S Sharmila has hit out at the TRS dispensation accusing it of pushing the State into debt-trap, opening the floodgates for free flow liquor for revenue, betraying the people’s mandate.

“The persons at the helm, who came to power for the second term on the promise of making “Bangaru Telangana”, betrayed people’s faith by indulging in empty rhetoric on Bangaru Telangana for their narrow political gains,” she alleged while addressing a roadside meeting at Kakarvai village in Tirumalayapalem mandal on Monday.

Ms Sharmila entered Khammam district on the 46th day of her State-wide padayatra at Solipuram village in Tirumalayapalem mandal on Monday morning. She was accorded a rousing reception by the admirers of her father late Chief Minister of the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh Y S Rajasekhar Reddy on her arrival at Solipuram.

Ms Sharmila will undertake an extensive walkathon in various mandals of the old undivided Khammam district in the next couple of days to build rapport with people and know their problems, the party sources said.

She is slated to address several interactive sessions titled “Mata Muchata” en route her padayatra in the district from where the then YSR Congress party had won three Assembly seats (Aswaraopet, Pinapaka and Wyra) and Khammam Lok Sabha seat during the 2014 general elections.

Addressing a gathering at Kakarvai on Monday afternoon, Ms Sharmila said, “My father Rajanna (Y S Rajasekhar Reddy) implemented a plethora of landmark welfare schemes such as Arogya Sri, 108 and 104 ambulance services, fee reimbursement and pension schemes for the welfare of all sections of the State during his five year tenure as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

She said: The ruling TRS in its nearly eight years of rule so far miserably failed to fulfil its electoral promises such as sanction of two-bedroom houses to all shelterless poor people, three-acre land to Dalits and unemployment allowance to jobless youth, among others.”

“Instead of fulfilling its promises, the TRS regime is competing with the BJP government at the Centre in imposing backbreaking burden on common man by increasing the power tariff and property registration charges,” she said.

The YSR Telangana party came into being to expose the TRS regime’s “misrule” and alleviate the sufferings of people of Telangana, she said, reiterating that the party will strive to bring in the “people-friendly” and “pro-poor” “Rajanna rajyam.”
