Security beefed up at Pushkar Ghats in Telangana

Security has been beefed up at all the major Pushkar Ghats in Telangana in the wake of stampede in Rajahmundry on Tuesday.

At the temple town of Bhadrachalam, NDRF and fire services personnel were put on alert to meet any possible eventualities. Apart from 3,000 police personnel drafted for the duties, there are 1,000 fire services fisheries department and local fishermen were put on alert as the rush of devotees is expected to go up.

In Basar, the Adilabad SP Tarun Joshi alerted the security personnel posted at the Pushkar Ghats and the temple as soon as news came about stampede in Rajahmundry. However, there was not much crowd today giving the police some relief.

Police in Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Warangal districts were also put on alert.
