Leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Monday said that people of Huzurnagar constituency are fortunate, for they got a second chance to make an informed decision through the bypoll and defeat the Congress.
Addressing party workers after filing of nominations on Monday, Energy Minister G. Jagadish Reddy and the party's poll in-charge MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy had secured votes in the past for his false claims. "He told people that he would become a Central Minister or will be holding an important position. Nothing of that sort happened, and no one would believe him now," Mr. Rajeshwar Reddy said.
He further said that both Mr. Reddy and his wife and Congress contestant N. Padmavathi Reddy are non-locals, and the TRS candidate Shanampudi Saidireddy is a local and readily accessible.
"It is Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy who made Huzurnagar home for illegal sand mining and promoted club politics," he alleged.
Mr. Jagadish Reddy also, touching on the candidates' nativity, said Congress victory would serve the self-interests of its candidates, but not assured development.
“Victory is sure for the young Saidireddy, a local candidate, who is filled with enthusiasm,” he said.
TRS MLC Bhanu Prasad, several ZPTCs, MPTCs and village leaders were present at the meeting.
