GHMC has recently imposed a penalty of ₹1 lakh on a catering services provider for violating sanitation norms, making it the highest ever such penalty, a press note from the corporation informed.
The penalty was imposed on one Inner Chef Private Limited Catering and Restaurant at Ayyappa Society of Madhapur, for violations such as leaving the waste into the stormwater drain, not building a silt chamber, letting sewage onto the roads, and open dumping of construction debris.
Since May 24, the corporation has collected penalties to the tune of ₹ 26 lakh from 1,600 violators, as part of the ‘Saaf Hyderabad-Shandaar Hyderabad’ drive, a press statement from GHMC informed. Chandanagar circle has topped the list of penalties with 169 violators paying up over ₹7 lakh. Serilingampally got ₹3.38 lakh from 60 violators while Khairatabad could collect ₹1.76 lakh in 122 instances.
Banners cleared
Continuing the drive that had begun on Tuesday, GHMC officials have removed 10,000 more banners, hoardings and boards from the buildings of Ameerpet and Mythrivanam on Wednesday.
Officials have informed that the illegal banners and boards were removed from unreachable and inaccessible spots, using rope ladders and bucket ladders.
