A four member gang of robbers looted about three kg of gold ornaments from a salesman after attacking him at Mehdipatnam late on Saturday night.

Narsimha Reddy, a salesman working for old city based jewellery shop, came to another jewellery store at Mehdipatnam along with gold ornaments.

After showing different ornament designs to the management, he left the store and walked about a hundred metres when a group of unidentified persons waylaid him.

“One of the gangsters threw chilly powder on him while another hit Narsimha on the head with an iron rod or wooden stick, snatched the bag containing gold ornaments and escaped,” ACP Asifnagar, Ghouse Moinuddin said.

On receipt of information the police reached the spot.

“Six teams have been formed to investigate the case. Those involved in the robbery have been identified with the help of footage collected from nearby closed circuit cameras. Soon we will catch them,” Mr. Ghouse Moinuddin said.
