The police arrested a Burmese national for procuring Aadhaar card by fraudulent means. An Indian was also arrested on the charge of conniving with the Burmese national in the illegal deed.

According to the Balapur police, who made the arrest, Mohammed Ajamuddin, a 19-year-old Rohingya, had arrived in Hyderabad a few months ago. He was introduced as his son by 36-year-old Riyazuddin Molla, an Indian national, to UIDAI authorities. The former has been living in the refugee camp at Balapur ever since his arrival.

Police said the duo had got acquainted in Bangladesh, where Ajamuddin had lived as a refugee before coming to India.

“Riyazuddin told Ajamuddin to come to India. When the younger man reached West Bengal, Riyazuddin facilitated his arrival to Hyderabad and, subsequently, his stay. It seems UIDAI authorities did not question a 36-year-old claiming a 19-year-old to be his son,” said Balapur Station House Officer S. Mohan Reddy.

The cops were tipped off about Ajamuddin having an Aadhaar card when he inadvertently produced it before a police source, resulting in a raid and the arrests.
