On the day the revenue employees resumed work after boycotting duties for a week in protest against the killing of Abdullapurmet Tahasildar Vijaya Reddy, the State government, in line with the assurances given to the Telangana Revenue Employees’ Services Association (TRESA), issued a series of instructions to District Collectors to ensure protection at mandal revenue offices.

The Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) acted on the representation submitted by the TRESA Joint Action Committee (JAC) and issued a circular about measures to be taken without fail. The Collectors were also directed to submit a compliance report on the issue.

TRESA JAC, in its representation, said the killing of Tahasildar Vijaya Reddy shook the revenue employees across the State and they were unable to discharge their duty due to security reasons in the mandal revenue offices, the association said and requested for measures to step it up.

The CCLA instructed that proper security arrangements be provided immediately at all the revenue offices with the assistance of the Police Department.

The precautionary measures also entails separate provision of entry and exit at Tahasildars’ offices, maintenance of fire fighting equipment, specific timing for visiting hours or to represent grievances from the public. The entire staff should be present during the redressal of grievances and CC cameras be set up at areas covering the entire office with the available funds at the Collector level immediately.

The Collectors should assess and report the requirements of infrastructure in the revenue offices, make necessary modifications to officers’ chambers/court hall and training be given to staff and officers at district training centres on Executive Magistracy and important laws, the CCLA said.
