Railways nets Rs. 16.7 lakh in fines

About 1,005 persons were caught travelling without a ticket by Railway authorities. Further, 1,851 persons were penalised for travelling irregularly and 234 cases of unbooked luggage was detected. A total of Rs. 16,66,685 was realised towards penalty during the fortress check undertaken against ticketless and irregular travellers at Secunderabad Railway Station by The South Central Railways (SCR) on October 19. The check was conducted under the supervision of G. Laxminarayan, Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway. The check was undertaken by 145 ticket checking staff supplemented by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. Thirty-four express trains, 6 passenger trains and 36 MMTS trains were checked.
