Public prosecutor arrested

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday arrested the Additional Public Prosecutor of Second Special Sessions Court of Ranga Reddy district, P. Sriram Reddy, on charge of receiving ₹10,000 bribe from a lawyer, P. Indra Kumar.

The lawyer had moved a bail petition for an accused named in a criminal case registered in Alwal police station. Along with different penal sections, the police have also invoked sections relating to Dowry Prohibition Act in the case.

The The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials stated that the APP allegedly demanded bribe to facilitate granting of bail to the accused. The bribe amount was recovered from a file kept on the table of the accused officer at his instance on the premises of Ranga Reddy court complex, a press release from the ACB office said.

He would be presented before a special court in Hyderabad.
