Adivasi Sankshema Parishad, Adivasi Nayakpod Seva Sangham and Adivasi Kondareddi Sangham joined hands to implement a slew of initiatives aimed at promoting and preserving the famous ‘Rela’ song tradition, an integral part of Adivasis’ cultural heritage.

A four-day workshop is being organised in Bhadrachalam by the three Adivasi organisations to take forward the initiative to highlight the rich musical legacy of Adivasis, including the dance and song traditions and musical instruments for conserving the distinctive cultural heritage of the indigenous people.

On the second day of the workshop on Thursday, the organisers recorded songs sung by Adivasis from various parts of the Bhadrachalam Agency and also from the Agency areas of the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

The joint initiative also envisages bringing out music CDs on Rela songs and digitising the rich Adivasi art forms, sources said.

The Adivasi organisations have drawn up a plan to hold an interactive session involving Adivasi artistes, including singers and noted personalities from various walks of life, in association with the Integrated Tribal Development Agency on the occasion of Vishwa Koya (Gondi) Basha Dinotsavam in Bhadrachalam on July 21.
