PRC gives HoDs more time for response

Very poor response despite second extension

The Pay Revision Commission has extended the deadline for the heads of departments to submit their responses to the questionnaire on the proposed pay revision.

The Commission was forced to extend the deadline to August 10 as the response from the HoDs continues to be lukewarm with less than 30% of the HoDs responding to the PRC’s questionnaire. The PRC has earlier set June 30 as the last date for the HoDs to submit their responses. “A fresh reminder has been sent to the HoDs a couple of days ago as their views on the pay revision should be incorporated while preparing our report,” a PRC member told The Hindu . The member explained that almost all the employees unions and their representatives had submitted their responses well within time with main emphasis on appropriate fitment benefit as well as rectification of anomalies. The response from the HoDs will enable the Commission to make a comparative study and arrive at areas where the two sections concur. This would be followed by consultations with the two sides as well as the Finance Department for ascertaining financial resources available for finalising the recommendations.

The PRC had commenced the exercise of examining the aspects covered and recommendations made by the previous commissions so that they could be of help in finalising the first PRC report for Telangana. “Our report will be a benchmark for the PRCs whenever they are constituted in future. We therefore want it to cover all aspects involved,” he said.

The Commission had decided to ask the HoDs to nominate nodal officers from their respective departments so that they could be available whenever consultations are held and some clarifications are sought on issues of relevance. The PRC however appears to be not confident of completing its report within the time frame specified to it as consultation process had not commenced almost two months after it started functioning. “It will take time as we are still in the preliminary work,” the member said without elaborating on the time it would take to finalise the report.
