Former TPCC president and Chairman of the State Level Implementation Committee of the Congress, Ponnala Lakshmaiah has been conferred with the Dignitary Man of Asia award at the 5th Global Officials Dignity Awards at a function held at the United Nations in New York on Saturday.
Mr. Lakshmaiah was also invited to speak at the 4th annual summit of We Care for Humanity (WCH), a non-profit organisation based in United States advocating Human Rights, World Peace, Green Environment, Education, Health, Eradication of Poverty and Empowerment.
Later, speaking at the awards ceremony, Mr. Lakshmaiah spoke about the rich diversity of India and its contribution to the world apart from how the world is now looking at India as the destination given its rise as a supreme economic power.
Mr. Lakshmaiah said the award was a recognition of his philanthropic pursuits in the fields of medicine, health and education.
