November 24, 2013 12:19 am | Updated 12:19 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Cyberabad police are probing the role of a constable posted at Asifnagar police station after a property offender arrested recently by the police in theft cases named the former as his associate.

The Rajendranagar police, about 10 days ago, caught the property offender Lateef, in a case of failed attempt to rob money from an ATM centre in the area.

Cop complicity

During questioning, Lateef told his interrogators that he, along with two dismissed home guards and a constable, were committing thefts in the city and surrounding areas.

Police sources also revealed that the constable and thief knew each other for the last few years and the offender was also working as an informer.

The property offender was involved in more than 15 offences reported in the city and Cyberabad. When contacted, Rajendarnagar Inspector, Ch. Kushalkar, told that the case was under investigation.
