The U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad, in collaboration with Jxtapose, hosted its sixth annual edition of poetry slam on Sunday with the theme ‘Freedom and values’.

Participants, who had registered to perform in languages including English, Telugu, Hindi, and Urdu, touched upon topics such as freedom of speech and expression, equality, and inclusion, a press release said.

“We’re proud to hold the sixth iteration of our poetry slam programme, and to provide these poets with a platform to express themselves,” said U.S. Consulate Hyderabad spokesperson Akash Suri. “It’s an opportunity to step back and hear directly from the community about what issues are important to them and then further see if those issues can better be reflected in our future outreach activities,” he said.
