Govt proposal to strengthen security

Following the decision of the State government to strengthen the security around irrigation project areas, Chief Secretary S.P. Singh and Director General of Police Anurag Sharma visited various project sites in the district.

The CS and the DGP, accompanied by Special Chief Secretary Irrigation S. K. Joshi, Principal Secretary Finance Ramakrishna and other senior officials, including District Superintendent of Police R. Bhaskaran, visited project sites in Mahadevpur mandal and Kannaigudem mandal here.

The officials inspected the earth works at Medigadda project and the Devadula pumping house and made an aerial survey of forest areas abutting the river Godavari.

According to officials, the State government was planning to strengthen the security at irrigation projects and proposed to set up a police station at Tupakulagudem.

This is the spot where the CPI (Maoist) cadre cross the river from Chhattisgarh State to enter the the state through Eturunagaram forest area.
