The unaccounted for cash seized during vehicle checking since the announcement of poll schedule for elections in the State has reached ₹64.35 crore as on November 9 and that of liquor to ₹5.16 crore for 2.18 lakh litres in terms of quantity.
Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana Rajat Kumar told reporters here on Friday that a total of 1,894 complaints on election code violations were received and, of them, 1,012 were found to be correct while the remaining were superfluous, they included 396 that were dropped at returning officer level and 421 dropped at district committee level. Investigation is pending in 65 complaints including 7 at district panel level.
Applications received
On the applications by parties seeking permission to hold rallies and meetings, the CEO said 4,462 applications were received so far and 3,781 of them were disposed already.
In spite of complaints by parties other than Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Election Commission has decided to hold the elections with pink-coloured ballot papers pasted on EVMs but the voter slips would be in white colour, as per the provisions of the Representation of People’s Act. The distribution of voter slips to all voters would be completed by December 1.
On the cash carrying rules, the CEO explained that cash in excess of ₹50,000 without proper evidence would be seized by the election officials, if found during the checking. and the seized amount would be kept in the control of Station House Officer (SHO) till the process on its claims is completed.
