Owaisi unhappy with Centre over Padmavat

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeem president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party ‘rolled out the red carpet’ for those who are committing acts of violence in the name of protesting against the film Padmaavat.

Addressing the media, Mr. Owaisi said, “The Prime Minister at Davos said that the red tape has been done away with and red carpet has been rolled out. The red carpet has been rolled out for those who are vandalising theatres in Gujarat and pelting stones at school buses.”

The Hyderabad MP pointed out that the government constituted a panel to review the film. He said in the name of ‘aastha’ of Rajputs, portions of the film were deleted and questioned why the ‘aastha’ of Muslims was not being considered with regards to the community’s personal laws.

“This is not sab ka saath sab ka vikas. The Prime Minister has surrendered to the Rajputs. Is the 56 inch chest only for Muslims?” he said.
