One killed, four injured as bus brakes fail

A street dweller was killed and four persons suffered injuries when a TSRTC city bus ran amok after its brakes failed near the Clock Tower in Secunderabad on Saturday evening, police said.

Gopalapuram police said that the bus also rammed a stationary car, a bike rider and came to a halt after crashing into a metro rail pillar opposite Prashanth Theatre. The TSRTC bus of Miyapur depot bus plying between Miyapur and Secunderabad Railway station also injured a woman pedestrian.

According to Gopalapuram ACP K Srinivas Rao said the accident took place around 7 p.m. when bus driver Mohammed Ahmed lost control on the wheel following brakes failure.

The injured were rushed to Gandhi hospital, while the body of the unidentified alm-seeker was shifted to its morgue.
