This monsoon, the NTPC Telangana project has planned to take up Haritha Haaram in a big way by planting 1.5 lakh saplings in Peddapalli district in collaboration with the Forest Department and the municipalities of Ramagundam and Sultanabad.
As part of the programme, ‘Each one - Plant one’ was launched on Thursday where saplings were planted on the premises of Sultanabad court. Collector A. Sridevasena, Chief Conservator of Forests, Warangal, M.J. Akbar, Junior Civil Judge K. Pardha Sarathi Rao, NTPC-Ramagundam Executive Director P.P. Kulkarni and others were present.
On the occasion, students and municipal officials planted a total of 700 saplings. Subsequently, avenue plantation would be carried out in the internal roads of Ramagundam and Sultanabad municipalities and along 25-km stretch of Rajiv Rahadhari in the district.
In addition, the NTPC-Ramagundam had decided to carry out plantation in its own land and take up a pilot project using Miyawaki technique, a Japanese way of creating dense forest by planting local species.
DFO Peddapalli M. Ravi Prasad, Sultanabad Bar Association President A. Sarotham Reddy, Municipal Commissioner E. Shyam Sunder Rao and others were also present.
