Collector asks pandal organisers to cooperate with district administration

Over 6,000 Ganesha idols would be immersed across the tri-cities of Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet here on Wednesday.

Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil, Municipal Commissioner Ravi Kiran, Police Commissioner V. Ravinder led by MLA and Government Chief Whip D. Vinay Bhaskar went around the city inspecting the arrangements made for immersion of idols on Tuesday. A total of six places of immersion – Bandham Cheruvu, Desaipet tank, Padmakshi tank and others – have been selected by the authorities.

Mr. Patil appealed to the pandal organisers to cooperate with the district administration and ensure smooth conduct of Ganesha immersion.

The Police Commissioner, after the review meeting, closeted with the officers and instructed them to remain alert. A total of 6,182 idols under Warangal Police Commissionerate limits, including Warangal Rural, Urban, and Jangaon, would be immersed. Mr. Ravinder said the police were taking precautionary measures to avoid untoward incidents during the immersion of idols.

No loudspeakers

He said the use of blaring loudspeakers or employing disc jockeys during processions are prohibited. “Those supplying sound boxes will be fined ₹5,000 and they will even be sent to jail,” he said.

Meanwhile, the police have imposed traffic restrictions on Wednesday to ensure smooth Ganesha immersion procession. Accordingly, heavy vehicles coming from Mulugu and Bhupalpally districts would not be allowed to enter Warangal city. All the vehicles should be parked at Sailani Baba Dargah. On the Khammam route, heavy vehicles should be parked at Naidu Pump House, while on Narsampet route, vehicles should be parked at Gorrekunta Crossroads.

On the Hyderabad route, heavy vehicles should be parked at Rampur during the peak hours of immersion procession.
