The Railway Board has approved South Central Railway (SCR)’s proposal for a provision of multi-level parking complex at Secunderabad Railway Station (near platform no.1), adjacent to Ganesha temple.

The need for such a complex was brought to the notice of Railway Minister Piyush Goyal by local public representatives during his recent visit to the city following which the engineering wing drew a plan and SCR General Manager, Vinod Kumar Yadav, held discussions with top railway officials and requested the Railway Board to approve the proposal.

SCR officials would soon hold a meeting with the Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd and General Manager of Rail Land Development Authority on the matter, subsequent to which the executing agency i.e., RLDA or the State government would take up the work. Secunderabad station handles around 1.80 lakh passengers daily and due to inadequate parking area, passengers have been facing inconvenience due to bunching of vehicles at the station entry and traffic jams on the main approach roads to the railway station, necessitating the need for a modern complex.
