No disrespect to Governor’s office: K T Rama Rao

April 07, 2022 11:31 pm | Updated 11:31 pm IST - RAJANNA SIRCILLA

Asserting that they have great respect for the constitutional post of Governor, TRS working president and minister for Municipal Administration and Information Technology K T Rama Rao has said why should we have any “disharmony” with the constitutional head.

He was responding to queries from mediapersons during his visit to Sircilla on Thursday when asked about Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan’s reported remarks on the alleged insult meted out to the Governor’s office including ‘violation’ of protocol in some instances.

We have not shown any disrespect towards the Governor’s office, he said, wondering why such views were expressed.

Referring to Dr Soundararajan’s reported comments justifying her decision to reject the nomination of Kaushik Reddy as suggested by the State government for the MLC post under the Governor’s quota citing certain reasons, he said: “If having political background is the criteria followed for rejection in Kaushik Reddy’s instance, how can a person with ‘political background’ be appointed as a Governor.”
