The State Government told the Assembly on Tuesday that no decision has been taken on the proposed demolition of the heritage, in-patient, block in the OGH here and that any action shall be taken in consultation with the city legislators.
Stating this during the question hour in the Assembly, Minister for Health Dr. C. Laxma Reddy said that the JNTUH-INTACH report on the structural stability and longevity of the heritage building had recommended that it was not safe for housing in-patient block, but could be used for out-patient services and administrative needs, after carrying out repairs. He stated that there was some delay in completing the process of tenders for purchasing equipment worth Rs.70 crore and taking up civil works with Rs.30 crore due to shortage of staff.
