The mystery behind the sensational theft of the ‘Alam' from Aza Khana Zahra at Darulshifa seven years ago continues to baffle the police even today.

Senior officials say special police teams visited almost 25 States and three foreign countries to trace the ‘Alam' but in vain.

Initially, the police stumbled upon some clues indicating involvement of a local electrician behind the theft.

Evidence was also collected, but the case was not solved for reasons best known to police officials.

Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner A.K. Khan on Monday visited Bibi-ka-Alawa, Panjesha, Kadmerasool and other places in oldcity in connection with forthcoming Muharram and reviewed the security arrangements.

Andhra Pradesh Shia Youth Conference president Syed Hamid Hussain Jaffrey and other community leaders were also present.

Mr. Jaffrey said the Police Commissioner promised to make elaborate security arrangements to ensure peaceful conduct of Muharram.
